So it has come.

SCPH-77004, 7C, PAL.
"04", meaning it was made for Europe.
"7C", meaning manufactured in the third quarter of 2007.
"PAL", meaning color encoded for PAL regions.

It came with 2 controllers, and a TON of, (which i didn't know at the time) bootleg games. The Mechacon fault is patched on this version. I cleaned everything and needless to say i was a happy camper.

So, it was time for the moment of truth.
I plugged in the power, red light comes on.
I press the button, red goes to green.

Oh yeah baby it about to wo-

Apperently, my PS2 had a MODCHIP INSTALLED! Now, I had no recollection of this in my childhood at all. But my mom remembered something about bringing the PS2 to a service shop. I am not complaining!!! This means I can play games that belong to the PAL and NTSC regions. The chip might be able to do more, I gathered my main info from this.

I especially noted the bit where it said to not upgrade clone chips that use matrix infinity, but the only way to find out if you have a clone is to open up the PS2 and look.

But not all is good news. To displessure, I found out both of my controllers were broken. The knockoff one was completely dead, while the Sony had a broken D-PAD. I tried tinkering inside the controllers, and, made things worse... But the PS2 was working! And I was most glad of that!

So the next day I purchased 2 controllers and booted my childhood game, Tekken 5.

It's... Beautiful...

The console still has some issues, mainly the laser and the disk-scratching design. Which I will cover in the next post.
